چکیده

Self-management for pervasive middleware is important to realize the Ambient Intelligence vision. In this paper, we present an OWL/SWRL context ontologies based self-management approach for pervasive middleware where OWL ontology is used as means for context modeling. The context ontologies are incorporating the dynamic context information, including device and service run time information, which can then be used for running status checking and diagnosis, QoS monitoring, and further to achieve other self-management features, such as the self-configuration and self-adaptation. We demonstrate the OWL/SWRL context ontologies based self-management approach with the self-diagnosis in Hydra middleware, using device state machine and other dynamic context information, for example web service calls. The evaluations in terms of extensibility, performance and scalability show that this approach is effective in pervasive service environment.

Using Context Awareness for Self-Management in Pervasive Service Middleware

Context-awareness is an important feature in Ambient Intelligence environments including in pervasive middleware. In addition, there is a growing trend and demand on self-management capabilities for a pervasive middleware in order to provide high-level dependability for services. In this chapter, we propose to make use of context-awareness features to facilitate self-management. To achieve self...

An OWL/SWRL Based Diagnosis Approach in a Pervasive Middleware

Diagnosis is the most important step for achieving selfhealing of systems, which is a challenge in pervasive computing. In this paper, we present a semantic, state machinebased diagnosis approach for a web-service based middleware. We use OWL ontologies and SWRL to develop both diagnosis and monitoring rules, based on state changes and also invocation relationships. Malfunction information and ...

Combining SWRL rules and OWL ontologies with Protégé OWL Plugin, Jess, and Racer

The presentation concerns a draft implementation with Protégé OWL Plugin for SWRL, based on the RDF concrete syntax of the SWRL proposal. A first prototype of a SWRL Tab Widget has been achieved. It is a bridge between Protégé OWL, Racer, and Jess, intended to help reasoning with SWRL rules combined with OWL ontologies. A small example is given including an OWL ontology representing the family ...

A Genetic Algorithms-Based Approach for Optimized Self-protection in a Pervasive Service Middleware

With increasingly complex and heterogeneous systems in pervasive service computing, it becomes more and more important to provide self-protected services to end users. In order to achieve selfprotection, the corresponding security should be provided in an optimized manner considering the constraints of heterogeneous devices and networks. In this paper, we present a Genetic Algorithms-based appr...

Use of OWL and SWRL for Semantic Relational Database Translation

General purpose query interfaces to relational databases can expose vast amounts of content to the Semantic Web. In this paper, we discuss Automapper, a tool that automatically generates data source and mapping ontologies using OWL and SWRL. We also describe the use of these ontologies in our Semantic Distributed Query architecture, an implementation for mapping RDF queries to disparate data so...
